Anne Elizabeth Thornton, age 79, of Jonesboro, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2025.

Born on May 19, 1946, Anne was the beloved daughter of the late Varnum Dwight and Lezette Ella Ludington. She was also preceded in death by her devoted husband, Dennis Thornton.

Anne dedicated much of her career to caring for children as a daycare worker at Community Christian School, where she was known for her kindness and gentle spirit. A faithful member of Jonesboro First United Methodist Church, Anne lived her life with love, service, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.

She is survived by her children, Jason (Tiffani) Thornton of McDonough and Mindy (Sheldon) Pearce of Baxley; her brothers, Jerry (Kim) Ludington, Jack (Jeanne) Ludington, and Barry (Janet) Ludington; and her cherished grandchildren, Amber Thornton (Graham Marsh), Cassidy (Alonso) Martinez, Savanna Thornton, and Brayden Pearce (Madison Griffin). She also leaves behind her beloved granddogs, Zar and Oso, as well as extended family members and many dear friends who will miss her deeply.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ford-Stewart Funeral Home, 2047 Hwy 138 SE, Jonesboro, GA 30236.
