Barbara Schilling Trimble, 88, passed away on September 25, 2026. Born January 28, 1938, in Atlanta, Georgia, she grew up in the Morningside neighborhood and attended Morningside Elementary School and the Westminster Schools before earning her degree from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.

In 1967, she married James Edward Trimble. Together they raised two sons, James Edward Trimble Jr. and Michael Robinson Trimble, who preceded her in death.

Barbara began her career with Alitalia Airlines and Eastern Airlines before going on to work as a special education teacher. She served as PTA president at multiple schools over the years while raising her sons, and was president of the Women of the Church at Bethany Presbyterian Church. She was a longtime, devoted member of Northside Methodist Church, where she was affectionately known to many as the "Book Mark Lady" — famous for the handmade bookmarks she decorated with stickers and laminated by hand, giving them away to friends, family, fellow church members, and pretty much anyone who came within ten feet of her. They became a true expression of who she was: thoughtful, creative, and generous with small kindnesses.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Edward Trimble; her son, James Edward Trimble Jr. (Laura Felton Trimble); her grandchildren, Katherine Wimberly Trimble and James Edward Trimble III; and her brother, Robinson Weller Schilling Jr. ("Robin"). She was preceded in death by her parents, Robinson Weller Schilling and Carolyn Duncan Schilling, and her son, Michael Robinson Trimble.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 1, at 2:30 p.m. at Arlington Memorial Park. A celebration of life will follow in the coming weeks; details to be announced. Arrangements are entrusted to Ford-Stewart Funeral Home, Jonesboro, Georgia.
