Mr. Bernard W. Laney, Sr., age 87, of Lake City passed away July 16, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, R. V. and Myrtis Laney, and brothers, Edsel Laney and John Laney. He is survived by his wife, Jewell Laney, daughter, Karen McCain Hopson and husband, William W. Hopson of Marietta, son, Bernard W. Laney, Jr. and wife, Beverly of Douglasville, grandchildren, Shae Laney and Corey Laney, great-grandchildren, Chase Laney, Jered Hodgins, Nicholas Laney and Parker Laney. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 20, 2014, 4 p.m. at the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mt Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
