Betty Jane Spier, age 95, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024. Betty was born in Hapeville, Georgia to Bessie (Porter) and Raymond Terrell. She grew up in Hapeville and graduated from Hapeville High School where she played in the school band. She continued her love of music at Queens University of Charlotte as a music major for two years.
Betty resided in Morrow, Georgia for 53 years before moving to Marietta, Georgia in December 2023. Betty was a devoted wife and loving mother. Everyone who met her adored her. She was an active member of the Morrow Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, participated in the women's circle, and enjoyed having fun with the Young at Heart group.
Betty enjoyed her hobbies of studying the Bible and reading novels. Besides the Bible, John Grisham was her favorite author. She was known for praying daily for family and friends and that will truly be missed.
Betty is proceeded in death by her husband of 65 years, Joe Spier and her brother, Raymond "RL" Terrell. She is survived by her two sons George and Mark along with their spouses Susan and Coleen, respectively. She is also survived by four grandchildren and six great grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Betty's funeral service will be on January 4th at 11:00AM, at Morrow Presbyterian Church. Starting at 10:00AM, before the service, the family will have a viewing and visitation time. Following the service at 11:00AM there will be a short social gathering provided by the Church. After the social gathering there will be a procession to Jones Memorial Cemetery in Forest Park for burial. Anyone who desires may join the procession.
