Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brett Clinton McElwaney, born on February 16, 1967, in Atlanta, Georgia, who left us too soon, on July 27, 2024, in Jonesboro, Georgia. Brett, a loyal son, a dedicated father, and a cherished friend, leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience.

Brett was the son of Jack Robert McElwaney and Rosa Virginia McLeod, both of whom predeceased him, along with his beloved brother, Joseph David McElwaney. He shared a strong bond with his family, and even in the face of loss, he always found a way to keep their memories alive in his heart.

As a father, Brett took immense pride in his three daughters even if he struggled to find the right approach: Kristen Poulter--- his first love, Jessica McElwaney—his favorite—and Regina McElwaney Ramey, with whom he shared a unique twinner bond. He was a true pillar of strength for his family, instilling in them the values of loyalty and hard work that he embodied throughout his life. His unwavering love will be carried on by his grandchildren: Jaylin Brett McElwaney, Hayden Ramey, Shawn Martin, Robert Martin, and his precious triplet granddaughters, London, Brooklyn, and Jordan McElwaney.

Brett was so much more than a father; he was a friend to many. Known for his tough exterior and gangster spirit, he was a man of immense character and cutthroat kindness, always willing to lend a hand or correct situations for a friend in need. His passions included playing guitar, riding motorcycles, and collecting vehicles, which he cherished and maintained with his own hands. A self-employed carpenter, Brett poured his heart into his work, creating not only beautiful homes but also a life filled with passion and purpose.

Brett lived life on his own terms. He embraced the thrill of his youth and, over the years, transitioned into a man who valued family, friends, and the simple joys of life. While he lived fast, he ultimately grew into a loving and devoted father, guiding his family through both triumphs and challenges. His spirit was boundless, and his love for life was infectious, making it impossible not to love him back.

Brett is survived by his loving daughters and grandchildren, as well as his nephew, Brandon McElwaney, and nieces, Allison and Valerie McElwaney. While his physical presence may no longer be with us, his spirit, laughter, and legacy will continue to resonate in the lives of all those he touched.

In celebrating Brett's life, we remember a man who was truly one of a kind—loyal, hardworking, and full of love. The memories we've shared with him will remain in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, Brett; you will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
