Mr. Carlos Clinton Swafford age 87 of McDonough, passed away June 6, 2016 after losing his battle with cancer. Carlos was born August 5, 1928 in East Point, GA to Harvey Clinton and Bessie Lee (Frazier) Swafford. He attended Russell High School and served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1946-1948. He retired in 1990 from Yellow Freight System in Atlanta, GA where he worked as a truck driver for forty years. Carlos was a member of Jonesboro First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, GA and a pervious member of Morrow Baptist Church in Morrow, GA. Carlos was preceded in death by his parents: H.C. and Bessie Swafford and sister: Virginia S. King. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Joann. They have 3 children: Vickie Kovaleshi (Richard), Patsy Scharlow (Robin) and Joseph C. Swafford; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren that he loved so much. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, June 9, 2015 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro with Rev. Irvin Pearre officiating. Burial to follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Forrest Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the funeral home.
