Mrs. Carol S. Eckerson, age 78 of Jonesboro passed away July 26, 2018. She was an active member of her Precept Bible Study Group and Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church Jonesboro, and enjoyed visiting the homebound and shut-ins from her church. Her personal relationship with God was the foundation from which she shared so much with the world. Mrs. Eckerson exemplified what it meant to be the matriarch of her family. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, GiGi, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Maude Stone and brothers: Bruce Stone and Raymond Stone. She is survived by her husband: Ralph Eckerson, children: Denise (Rick) Griffin of Jonesboro, Dana (Marla) Shepard of Manhattan, KS, Veronica Adams of Statesboro and Lucas (Cindy) Eckerson of Griffin, brother: Donald (Jenelle) Stone of Powells Point, NC, sisters: Sandra (Tommy) Newbern of Powells Point, NC and Diane (Garry) Owens of Harbinger, NC, several grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and extended family. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church Jonesboro with Rev. Irvin Pearre officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018 at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.   Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations to First Baptist Church Jonesboro, P.O.
