Carol Ann Verner entered into Peace on November 3, 2023 in her Jonesboro, Georgia home.
Carol is survived by her husband, Delton Verner, four children (two spouses), eight
grandchildren (three spouses), and one great-grandchild.
Carol was born on September 23, 1938 in La Jolla, California where she grew up and met her
first husband, Eugene A. Clapper. They married while living in California, but moved shortly
thereafter to Rockford, Illinois, where they raised four children. Carol was a stay at home mother
until the early 1970's. She then began working various jobs until she settled in real estate in the
1980's. Carol enjoyed relaxing on her porch, birdwatching, candle making, sewing, and was
even commissioned to create stained glass windows on occasion.
Carol is predeceased by her first husband, Eugene A. Clapper, Sr., second husband, Keith
Rasmussen, and third husband, James Basiley. She is also predeceased by her five siblings.
Carol's memorial service will be held at Ford-Stewart Funeral Home in Jonesboro, GA on Friday
December 1st, 2023 at 11am. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Her final resting place will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in
Machesney Park, IL. at a later date.
