Carolyn C. Kiney, age 83, passed away peacefully at home Monday August 17th with her daughter and son in law by her side. Carolyn was born November 19th, 1936 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the only child of Walter and Myrtle Carpenter. She graduated from Woodlawn high school in Birmingham and then attended UAB for a short time. After marrying in June 1962, she moved to St. Petersburg FL with her husband Tom and they had a daughter the following year in August. In 1966, the family of three moved from St. Petersburg to Jonesboro, Georgia. She was happy to be a stay at home mom until 1970 when she returned to the workforce as administrative assistant to the president with Thermo King Atlanta and remained there for 22 plus years. After a semi-retirement, she later returned to work as the office manager for Dianne Cleveland in Peachtree City, GA. A job she enjoyed immensely. She finally retired completely in 2011 and lived in Jonesboro with her daughter. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her daughter and grandson. She loved animals and would have had dozens if she could have found a way. She thought there was only one college football team and was proud to cheer on her Crimson Tide on Saturdays in the fall. Surviving her are her daughter Karyn Cozad (Rhett Maughon) of Jonesboro, GA. and her grandson Evan Cozad of Jonesboro GA. The family will receive friends on Saturday August 29th from 11AM to 12PM at Ford-Stewart Funeral Home with a memorial to follow in the chapel - 2047 Highway 138 SE, Jonesboro, GA 30237.
