Obituary

Mrs. Clatie O. Wheeler passed away at her home in Hampton on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at 8 a.m.  Clatie was born August 30, 1931 in Clayton County and lived there most of her life. Her parents were Mary and Thomas Davis. She married Asberry Nelson Dobbs in 1950 and raised four children in the area. Mrs. Wheeler worked for Gordon Foods for about twenty-eight years and retired from Owens-Illinois after another thirty years. She was a caregiver for her brothers and sisters when they needed her, as well as for her grandchildren. She liked buying clothes for them, so much so that her youngest son used to call her the "Shirt Fairy." Clatie was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church for about twenty-nine years. You could always find her in the kitchen, where through love, she taught us to serve one another.  Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, six brothers, two sons: Kenneth and Barry Dobbs, and one great-grandson, Matthew Beck. Later she married Gene Wheeler, who has also passed away. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Deborah and Scott Benson, son and daughter-in-law: Gary and Ginny Dobbs, grandchildren: Dusty, Cady and Matt Dobbs, Bailey Bowman and Kimberly Beck, four great-grandchildren: Noah Reagin, Aiden and Gage  Beck and Rylee Bowman, nieces, nephews and many friends. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Forest Park with Rev. Claude Herbert officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations  to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org ,  in memory of Mrs. Wheeler
