Mrs. Doris C. Chafin, age 97, of Jonesboro, wife of the late Howard W. Chafin, passed away April 7, 2020. She was born on February 9, 1923 in Emanuel County, GA to the late George and Laura (Jones) Corbin. She attended Georgia Teachers College in Statesboro and Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville. Doris retired in 1975 from the US Postal Data Center as Data Conversion Supervisor in Atlanta and also from Macy's (formerly Davison's) china and crystal department at Southlake Mall in Morrow. In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by her son, Ronald H. Chafin; two brothers, Merrill and Randall Corbin; and two sisters, Norma Hendrix and Shirley Smith. She is survived by one daughter, Pamela C. Lucas and son-in-law Daniel; two granddaughters, Laura Chafin and Alexandra Lucas; one great-granddaughter, Laney Cihla; one sister-in-law, Barbara Corbin; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.
