Mrs. Edna Beyer Menchhofer age 99 of Lithonia, formerly of Ellenwood passed away August 27, 2023. Mrs. Menchhofer was a long time member of First Congregational Church United Church of Christ in Atlanta. She was a devoted pastor's wife and faithfully supported her husband in ministry as it took them all over the United States. She was a lifelong seamstress sewing anything from buttons to doing full alterations to wedding dresses. Throughout the years she made many quilts for her grandchildren and children in foster care. She was a member of Newborns in Need at Southern Regional Hospital and was a former member of the Covington Conyers Choral Guild. She started her nursing career in a boarding school in Kentucky. She was supervisor in many different places that she worked throughout her nursing career. She worked in hospitals, nursing homes and also in private duty nursing. She held many positions in postpartum care, Neonatal and Geriatric care. She always worked the nightshift so she could be home with her children when they were not in school. After her retirement she enjoyed meeting and working with others assisting them with tax preparation. She was preceded in death by her Husband: Rev. J. David Menchhofer, II; daughter in law: Kimberly Ann Menchhofer; all of her biological siblings, and her grandson: Emanuel Menchhofer. She is survived by her children: Rev. Earl Paul Menchhofer (Rev. Pamela Gale Smith) of Conyers, Joseph David Menchhofer, III (fiancée: Linda Lockaby) of Conyers and Dale Robert Menchhofer (Martha Hunting) of Seattle, WA; 3 grandchildren; niece: Christine Nieuwsma; nephew: Paul Kline. A funeral service will be held at 4 PM, Thursday, August 31, 2023 at First Congregational Church United Church of Christ in Atlanta with Dr. Dwight Andrews and Rev. Earl Menchhofer officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Congregational Church United Church of Christ, 105 Courtland St. NE, Atlanta, GA 30303 in memory of Mrs. Edna Beyer Menchhofer.
