It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Eliane Kébreau Lubin on October 14, 2023. Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, in 1928, Eliane's life was a testament to accomplishment, faith, and unwavering love. After completing her college education in France, Eliane ventured to New York City where she united with her future husband, Hill Lubin. Together, they built a life long story that lasted 55 years until Hill's departure, with whom she now reunites in eternal peace. Eliane's passion for education was evident throughout her life. In New York City, she took her teaching skills to become an accomplished librarian, overseeing the largest branch in Queens. She did this while successfully attaining a Master's Degree in Library Science from Queens College while raising a family. Her dedication to knowledge was inspiring, a beacon of light for those fortunate enough to know her. Upon retiring to Georgia, Eliane's heart led her back to the classroom. She served the students of Clayton County as a substitute teacher for both Middle and High schools, always committed to fostering a love for learning in the hearts of her students.
But Eliane's story isn't just about her professional accomplishments. She was the bedrock of a family that adored her. Predeceased by her loving husband, Hill Lubin, she leaves behind her dear sister, Danièle Kébreau Elie and her dear brother, Archbishop Louis Kébreau. Eliane's legacy also lives on through her three devoted sons: Gilbert (and wife Terrie), Clifford (and wife Janice), and Alain. Her pride and joy extended to her grandchildren: Reyna, Alexander, Garrett, Andre and Lindsey. Eliane's devout Catholic faith was a guiding force in her life. A dedicated member of St Philip Benizi Catholic Church, her belief and trust in the divine deeply influenced her actions and decisions. Her commitment to the church, her regular attendance, and her deep-rooted faith were inspirational. The church community will deeply feel the loss of such a devout and steadfast member. Eliane's faith was not just in attending services; it was evident in the way she lived her life, how she treated others, and in her unwavering belief in the goodness of humanity.
Her spirit, her wisdom, and her enduring love will be deeply missed by both her immediate and extended family. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate a life well-lived, full of grace and purpose. May she rest in peace, joining her beloved Hill, and may her legacy continue to inspire all who knew her. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 27, 2023 at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Jonesboro, GA.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the Funeral Home. Entombment will be at 3 PM on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Camp Memorial Park in Fayetteville, GA.
