Emily Thomas, age 82, of Jonesboro, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025.

Born on January 5, 1943, in Atlanta, Georgia, Emily was the daughter of the late Lucille Vivian Griggs and John Miller Cade. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hugh Gilbert Thomas, Sr., and her siblings, Bill Cade and Carol Wall.

Emily was a devoted member of Antioch Baptist Church and cherished her faith and church family throughout her life.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Hugh G. Thomas, Jr. of Jonesboro, Donna Suzanne (Roger) Bentley of Jackson, and Alan K. (Rhonda) Thomas of Locust Grove. She was a proud grandmother to Christina (Daniel) Brinker, Joshua (Krista Murray) Bentley, and Christopher Thomas, and a great-grandmother to Derek Wheeler II, Enoch Brinker, Echo Blu Brinker, and Savannah Bentley. She also leaves behind extended family members and many dear friends who will miss her greatly.

A funeral service celebrating Emily's life will be held on Friday, July 11, at 2:30 PM at Ford-Stewart Funeral Home, 2047 Hwy 138 SE, Jonesboro, GA 30236, with Pastor Jared Newlove officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 PM. Following the service, Emily will be laid to rest at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens
