Reverend Ernest M. "Jack" Nelson, age 94, of Jonesboro, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Jack devoted his life to the Gospel as a minister for the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church. He served numerous churches throughout his pastorage including Jonesboro First United Methodist Church and Eastland Road United Methodist Church, which was his last appointment. He also held various positions with Woodmen of the World.

Jack is preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Lynn Nelson, and his mother, Ida Lee Nelson. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 73 years, Jacqueline Nelson; his daughter, Debbie Nelson of Augusta; his nephew & neices, Melvin "Bobby" Starnes of Texas, Karen Ellis of Gainesville, and Nancy Krumrey of Wisconsin, along with many extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 27, at 4:00 PM at Jonesboro First United Methodist Church, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place on Monday at Oakland Cemetery, where Jack will be laid to rest.
