Obituary

Mrs. Ethel Mae Foster age 86 of McDonough passed away January 3, 2022. Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her parents: Carl J. Parker, Sr. and Luana Johnson Parker, five sisters and three brothers-in-law, three brothers and two sisters-in-law. She is survived by her husband of 68 years: William Foster, sons: Richard Foster and Stephen (Jan) Foster. She has four grandchildren, Charles Foster, Brandi Foster (Nick Carter), Jennifer Foster and Jacob (Katie) Foster, three great-grandchildren: Austin Foster, Parker Foster and Maggie Foster, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Ethel was a devoted wife and homemaker, dedicated to raising her children. She was a wonderful cook, sharing her food with neighbors and friends. Ethel, also known as Nanny to her grandchildren, shared her love and sense of travel and adventure with them, taking them on many trips. She was greatly loved by her grandchildren. Ethel loved God and this beautiful earth He created. She could always see the good in others. She was faithful to her church, Flippen United Methodist. For the past thirty (plus) years, she enjoyed camping at Unicoi Springs Resort in Helen, GA. There she had many special friends. She was very active in the establishment of the campground, with the kitchen being her special project. While there, she especially enjoyed singing and worshiping at the Unicoi Springs Chapel. The chapel and the people there held a special place in her heart. Visitation for Ethel Foster will be Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. at Flippen United Methodist Church. A service will follow visitation at 3 p.m. Pastor Steve Foster and Rev. Ken Huff will officiate. Interment will be at Flippen Methodist Church Cemetery. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Jonesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation for their excellent care of our mom during her time with them. Flowers accepted or contributions may be made to:  Flippen United Methodists Church, Building Fund, 3707 Jodeco Rd., McDonough GA 30253 in the Name of Mrs. Foster.  Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the wearing of masks is strongly suggested.
