Obituary

Gladys Yates Clemens, 73, of Jonesboro, Georgia, died Sunday, October 05, 2014, after a brief illness. Born March 15, 1941, in Leemaster, Buchanan County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Victor and ManillaMay Hagy Yates. She was a long-time resident of Clayton County and a retired employee of the State of Georgia. She loved Waylon and Willie and the multitude of cats and dogs that became part of the family, but most of all, she treasured spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven sisters, Evalina Yates, Lovis Ratliff, Beulah Farmer, Susie Lawson, Bonnie Worley, Goldie Coffey, and Betty Johnson; and three brothers, Marshall, Olin, and Warren G. Yates. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-two years, Jim Clemens; two sons, Doug and his wife Tammy, of Jonesboro and Scott, and his wife Amy, of McDonough; one daughter, Tammy, and her husband Kevin Holmes, of Covington; five grandchildren, Landon, Rylee, Matt, Katie, and Carrie Clemens; two brothers, Ayers Tad Yates of Charleston, West Virginia and Bill Yates, of Auburn Hills, Michigan; and two sisters, Agnes Farmer of Leemaster, Virginia, and Thelma Henry of Jackson, Michigan. Graveside services will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Sherwood Memorial Park, Jonesboro, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 6-7 PM at the funeral home.
