Glenna Roberta Elliott, age 89, of Riverdale, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 23, 2025.
Born on June 23, 1936, in Pittsfield, Illinois, Glenna was the beloved daughter of the late Doris Irvin and Glen Everett Newberry. She was also preceded in death by her devoted husband, Edward Pierce Elliott, and her cherished children, Edward Everett Elliott and Regina Elliott Anderson.
Affectionately known as "Toots," Glenna had a generous heart and a deep desire to help others—bringing her joy through caring for those around her. As a proud Navy wife, she raised three children while her husband was away at sea, embracing the challenges of motherhood with strength and love.
Over the years, Glenna worked in a variety of roles, including at a cannery and dry cleaner in Alaska and later at the Owens-Illinois glass factory in Atlanta. She worked tirelessly on swing shifts at the bottle line until her retirement, demonstrating a strong work ethic and enduring resilience.
Glenna had a passion for cooking, a love of reading, and a green thumb—she took pride in keeping her yard vibrant and full of flowers every summer. She was also an active member of the Red Hat Society for many years, enjoying meals out and adventures with her close circle of friends, including a memorable trip to Niagara Falls.
Her home was filled with music, as her sons played in her basement every Friday night for over 45 years. Glenna was a fan of their music and even attended concerts with them on occasion. Among her favorites were the Rolling Stones and Todd Snider, whom she saw multiple times.
Above all, Glenna was a devoted mother whose life centered around family. Her warmth, strength, and generosity touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Yvette Elliott; her son-in-law, Bob Anderson; her sister, Dorothy Maizer; as well as extended family and many dear friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ford-Stewart Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow on Friday, June 27, at 1:00 PM, also at Ford-Stewart Funeral Home. Glenna will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
