Grace "Gracie" Lee Loggins Barrett, daughter of Rev. Lumpkin Duncan and Julia Harrison Loggins, was born May 17, 1934, in White County, Georgia. She was the last of 13 children and a twin to her sister Ruby. She grew up on the family farm in Commerce, Georgia, where she raised goats, picked cotton, milked cows and graduated from Commerce High School. She and Ruby struck out on their own in 1955 by moving to Atlanta and getting jobs. She met John Barrett, they were married and had three sons. She was active at Capitol View Baptist Church, Capitol View Elementary School PTA and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. John passed away in 1985 and Grace stayed busy with caregiving, traveling, ballroom dancing and being involved with children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her Loggins' extended family. Grace is survived by her sons John and wife, Linda, Thomas and Richard; grandchildren Stacy and Carl Rieke, Lee Moss, Adam Barrett, Ricky and Qianqian Barrett, William and Casey Barrett, Ryan and Stephanie Barrett; great-grandchildren Ariel, Braden and Savannah, David, Elle, Lily, Carson, Liam, Ellis and Elowyn. Also, many nephews and nieces, as well as greats and great greats.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 in the Chapel of Ford Stewart Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Bethsaida Baptist Church Cemetery in Riverdale, GA.
