Mr. Grady Ray McCurry. 87, of Morrow, Georgia passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 13, 2026. Born on August 25, 1939 in Alpharetta, Georgia, Grady was the son of the late Grady and Mattie Lou (Rogers) McCurry.
He graduated from Milton High School and began his career as a cabinet maker before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force. After being discharged , he began a career with National Uniform Service that lasted 35 years.
On March 25, 1966, he married the love of his life, Beverly Ann Mason McCurry. Together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family and service to others.
A gifted craftsman, Grady had a lifelong passion for woodworking and cabinetry. He built and installed countless kitchen cabinets and handcrafted pieces of furniture that remain treasured by family, the church and friends. He was always willing to share his talents and gladly used his skills to help others. One of his greatest joys was working with the James Gang at First Baptist Church Jonesboro, building wheelchair ramps and completing projects for individuals and families in need throughout the community. A faithful member and deacon of First Baptist Church Jonesboro, Grady dedicated much of his life to serving both his church family and the community, exemplifying Christ's love through his actions and servant's heart.
Grady was known for his generous heart, quick wit and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. Above all, he loved the Lord and lived out his faith through humble service, kindness and compassion. Whether serving as a deacon, helping a neighbor or lending his skills to someone in need, Grady quietly demonstrated his faith each day. While his family will deeply miss him, they find peace and comfort in knowing he is now resting in the loving arms of his Heavenly Father.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Mattie Lou McCurry; his brother, Harvey McCurry and his sister-in-law, Shirley McCurry.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Beverly Ann McCurry; his daughter, Rosemary Ahonen and her husband, Daniel Ahonen; his sister, Carolyn Roberts and her husband, Bill Roberts; his grandson, Ethan Ahonen and his wife, Hannah Ahonen; his granddaughter, Amy Howington and her husband, Zach Howington; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.
A Celebration of Grady's life will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, September 17, 2026 in the Chapel of First Baptist Church Jonesboro with Rev. Allen Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1 P.M. until 2 P.M. prior to the Service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial Contributions be made to the James Gang or the Missions Fund at First Baptist Church Jonesboro, P.O. Box 773 Jonesboro, GA 30237 in Grady McCurry's name.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, support and kindness during this difficult time. Grady's legacy of faith, craftsmanship, generosity and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
