Mr. Harold Dean Brooks was born September 12, 1928 in Loganville, GA to Horace Dean Brooks and Obera Bee Brooks. Upon graduation, he began working at Sears Roebuck & Co. on Ponce de Leon Ave in late 1946 where he met his future wife Ruth Mae Boner. They were married on June 7, 1947. In 1947 he began a career with Georgia Power Company where he served for 42 years, retiring on May 1, 1989. After retirement, he and his wife Ruth were instrumental in the organization of the Metro South Chapter of the Georgia Power Ambassadors, a group of retirees and their spouses. He held various committee positions, including that of President.  He loved the old Georgia Power Company and his job, as well as being a part of the Ambassadors, and what the club stood for. He volunteered for blood drives for Georgia Power Company. In his younger years he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Forest Park, GA, and has received numerous Certificates of Appreciation. His motto was "Time is Life, It is irreversible and irreplaceable. To waste your time is to waste life, but to master your time is to master life and make the most of it...there are 168 hours in a week."  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Forest Park for 40 years, and after moving to Henry County he joined Salem Baptist Church where he was an active member until his death. His hobbies included: (WORK)...he never sat still. He liked to fix things, build things, plan things, organize, he enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, boating, loved going to the lake, reading the A.J.C. daily and he also liked to collect things. He loved his wife dearly and loved spending time with his family and friends and being a part of his clubs. His wife Ruth preceded him in death on January 23, 2011. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Michelle and Frank Landers of Fayetteville, grandchildren: Stephen Chase Landers (Audrey McGrath) of Fayetteville, Jason (Kelleigh) Landers of Tucker, GA and Josh Landers (Josh Williams) of Atlanta, and great-grandchildren: Colton William Landers, Helena Mae Landers and McKenleigh Mae Landers. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Statham officiating. Entombment will follow at Camp Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the funeral home.
