Mr. Henry Edward Phillips, age 72 of Jonesboro, passed away on December 22, 2023. Mr. Phillips was a retired Firefighter from the City of Morrow Fire Department. He devoted 30 years to fire service, 21 of which were with the City of Morrow. In March of 1978 he began as Shift Sgt. working through the ranks becoming Fire Chief in 1982. He returned to the working line in 1992 as Shift Commander where he worked until his retirement in April of 1999. Mr. Phillips is preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Melinda Phillips, son; Matthew Phillips, sisters; Alice Foster and Frances Webber. He is survived by his wife; Deborah, children; Vickie (Mike) Volan of Dunwoody, Ga, Marty (Jonnie) Phillips of Sharpsburg, Ga, grandchildren; Gillian (Jules) Phillips, Sarah Volan, Sam Volan, Mason Phillips and Luke Phillips, sister; Sandra Warr of Jonesboro and several extended family members. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 1 PM in the chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home with Pastor Glen Ward officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 5-8 PM at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow the Funeral Service at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College, Park.
