Hoke S. Propes Jr., age 83 of Jonesboro passed away Monday, August 13, 2012. He grew up in Nicholls, GA, and moved to Jonesboro in 1959. He retired from American Freight and was a former president of his teamsters retiree club. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro and a member of the Upper Room Sunday School class, where he served as treasurer for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents Lessie and Hoke Propes Sr., his brother Harry Propes, and son-in-law Gary Rupert. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret Propes, daughter Veronica Rupert, son Joel Propes, and daughter-in-law Pam Propes, grandchildren Scott Rupert (Bethany), Jill Yanik (Dave), Whitney Propes, Samuel Propes (Amanda), great-grandchildren Maggie Rupert, Will Rupert, and Isabella Anthros, sister, Leetie Jones, brother Robert Propes and sister-in-law Eather Propes, brother Reverend Thomas Propes and sister-in-law Laquita Propes, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Clara and Thomas Duncan, and several nieces and nephews. His viewing will be at the Ford-Stewart Funeral Home in Jonesboro, GA Wednesday, August 15, 2012, from 6-8 PM. The funeral will be Thursday, August 16, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro, GA at 11 AM. Reverend Dr. George Freeman will be officiating the service. Interment will be at Screven City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jonesboro First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society
