Mrs. Irene M. Dixon, age 91, of Griffin, passed away on December 10, 2025. She retired from the Clayton County Board of Education, where she worked in the cafeteria. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Dixon, Sr.; her parents, Willie and Fannie Murphy; siblings, Kay Wheeler, Janet Casey and Joe Murphy. She is survived by her children, James E. "Eddie" (Christine) Dixon of Griffin, Michelle (Terry) Willerson of Locust Grove and Andrea Dixon of Griffin; sister, Barbie Smith of NC; grandchildren, Debra (Doug) Cook, Lee (Kerri) Dixon and Ashley (Ray) Moon; great grandchildren, Nickol (Cameron) Goen, Hunter Couch, Tyler Dixon, Noah Moon, Grace Dixon, Savannah Kellow, Carter Kellow, Seth Kellow and Taylor (Molly) Kellow; great great grandchildren, Raine Goen, Leo Goen and Ashford Goen. A Funeral Service will held at 1 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at the Chapel of Ford Stewart Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11 AM- 1 PM prior to the Service at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro.
