Mrs. Jacqueline (Jackie) W. Nelson, age 95 of Jonesboro, passed away April 12, 2026. Mrs. Nelson retired after teaching for 38 years with the last teaching district being the Clayton County Board of Education. Mrs. Nelson was a longtime member of Jonesboro First United Methodist Church. Her husband had served the church as pastor in the early 1970s.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Rev. Ernest "Jack" Nelson, daughter: Cheryl Lynn Nelson, father: Seaborn F. Wainwright and mother: Lucy Watkins Wainwright. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter: Debbie Nelson of Augusta.

A Funeral Service will be held at 5 P.M. Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Jonesboro First United Methodist Church with Rev. Ellynda Lipsey officiating. A Reception will follow the service. Interment Services will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, April 20, 2026, at Oakland Cemetery in Waycross, GA.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to either Aldersgate Homes, www.aldersgatehomes.org , Murphy Harpst, www.murphyharpst.org or to LaGrange College, www.lagrange.edu , in Memory of Mrs. Jacqueline Nelson.
