James Everett Carter, Jr. of Jonesboro, GA passed away on November 19, 2021. He was born on January 27, 1947 to the late James Everett Carter, Sr. and Martha B. Carter in Athens, GA. Jim attended public schools in Athens and graduated from Athens High School in 1965. He completed his Bachelors and Masters Degrees at the University of Georgia.  He began his teaching career at Jonesboro High School in Clayton County in 1969 and remained there for 32 years. Jim was a devoted teacher who took a special interest in each of his students. Through involvement in the DECA Club which Jim sponsored many of his students won numerous state and national competitions over the years.  Jim earned his Real Estate license and began selling real estate while he was still teaching. After his retirement from teaching, he became an outstanding realtor in Clayton County and surrounding areas for 42 years. He worked for both Tara Properties and most recently for Market South Properties.  Jim's other passion in life was animals. He served on the Clayton County Animal Control Board and volunteered with several groups over the years including the Clayton County Humane Society and TLC Pet Rescue. Jim gave tirelessly of his time and resources to support many animal causes and make the lives of many animals better.  Jim is survived by his sisters Donna C. Szwast (Jimmy) of St. Simons Island and Janet C. Walker of Athens, nephews Jeff Szwast Of St. Simons Island, Jonathan Walker (Sarah) of Sharpsburg, Jeffrey Walker (Mallory) of Tucker, niece Laura Wall of St. Simons, several great nieces and nephews as well as his best friend Jan Gaskins of Jonesboro and his beloved dog Bubba whom he loved dearly
Jim loved his family, his home, his work and his many friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
