James Cecil Murdock, 91 of Jonesboro, passed away on October 6, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Harley and Willie (Johnson) Murdoch; siblings, Clovis Murdoch, Gladys Nance, Clyde Murdoch, Myron Murdoch; and son, William Michael Murdock. James is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Layton Murdock; children, James (Cheryl) Murdock Jr., Beth (David) Newby, and Andrew (Marguerite) Murdock; brothers, Melvin Murdoch and Larry Murdoch; grandchildren, Karie-Leigh (Ronnie) Sams, James A. Murdock, Miranda (Jason) Smigiel, Michael Murdock, Rachel (Tony) Newby, Sarah Murdock, Rebecca (Austin) Nowell, Jacob (Jordan) Murdock, Andrea Murdock and Drew Murdock; many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Ford Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Jonesboro, with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Forest Park.
