James William New age 87 of Ellenwood passed away Friday, December 18, 2015. Mr. New was retired from General Motors and served in the U.S. National Guard. He was a fun loving and hard working husband, father, and grandfather. He also was an outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman who enjoyed making things with his hands. He is preceded in death by his parents: Thomas & Mattie New; sister: Lucy Askew. He is survived by loving wife of 67 years: Jeanette New; children: Linda New Chastine (Henry) of Stockbridge, Larry New (Dale) of Eatonton, and Mark New (Peggy) of Hogansville. Leaving a legacy of 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in the Chapel of Ford Stewart Funeral Home. Rev. Henry Roberts and grandson: Andrew Alford will be officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM, Monday, December 21, 2015 at the funeral home.
