Mr. James Edward Oberst Sr. age 83 of Locust Grove passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. He is preceded in death by his parents; Joseph and Esther Oberst and wife; Peggy Oberst. He is survived by his children; Penny Gilmer of Jonesboro, James (Shannon) Oberst Jr of Locust Grove, Joshua (Amber) Oberst of Jackson, brother; Joseph (Patty) Oberst of Ft. Oglethorpe, sisters; Dorothea Oberst Pruvenok of Rossville, Nancy (Gilbert) Oberst Soesbee of TN, grandchildren; Madelynn Oberst, Bentley Oberst, Nolan Oberst, Addison Oberst, Amelia Oberst, Parker Oberst, Emma Gilmer and Jacob Gilmer. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 1 PM at the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro with Dr. Lanny Loe officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Ford-Stewart Funeral Home from 4-7 PM.
