Mr. James Alfred Thompson Sr., age 80 of Hampton passed away May 11, 2023. He was a loving father and grandfather.  He worked for Fayette County for 17 years and was the owner of Thompson Roofing.  Mr. Thompson is preceded in death by his Father; Samuel M. Thompson, Mother; Catherine Thompson, Sisters; Sandra Tate and Martha Curtright.  He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sherry L. Thompson, Children; James Alfred Thompson Jr of  Hampton, Michelle (Kevin) Dirks of Hampton, Grand Children; Seth Dirks, "Jimmy" Thompson, Ashley (Cody) Donahue, Great Grandchildren; Hayden Jones-Thompson, Caryson Jones-Thompson, Graham Donahue, Marlow Donahue, Brother; Samuel M. Thompson Jr, of Brooks and many Nieces, Nephews and extended family members. Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 15, 2023 at 2 PM at the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home with Pastor Shane Roye officiating.  Interment will follow at Jonesboro City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
