JoAnn Chesser Swafford 91, of McDonough Ga. Passed away peacefully Wednesday December 25, 2024.
JoAnn was born April 20, 1933, to late Helen S. and Morris J. Chesser Sr. of Atlanta, Ga. She was married for 67 years to the late Carlos Clinton Swafford and they raised three children. She was a homemaker, a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother. She was a member of Jonesboro FBC, Jonesboro, Ga. She was a Sunday School Teacher and worked on various church committees.
JoAnn worked at the Clayton County Tag Department for many years.
In addition to her parents Helen S. and Morris J. Chesser, JoAnn was preceded in death by her husband Carlos Clinton Swafford, sister Carolyn Wiggins, brother Morris J. Chesser Jr. She is survived by her children Vickie (Rick) Kovaleski, Patsy (Robin) Scharlow, and Joseph Swafford. Six grandchildren Stacey (Jason) Ferguson, Malissa (Chad) Smith, Shawna (Ashley) Scharlow, Leah (Tyler) Williams, Joey Swafford, Natalie Swafford, and Haley (Adam) Bodine. Twelve great grandchildren, Kayleigh (Alex) Guerrero, Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Roberts, Marlee Ferguson, Miranda Smith, Zane Smith, Rylynne Scharlow, Sidney Scharlow, Wyatt Scharlow, Ryder Scharlow, Asher Williams, Harrison Williams, and Stetson Williams. Three great, great grandchildren; Mason, Audrey, and John Guerrero. She is also survived by three siblings: Larry R. Chesser (Yvonne) of Locust Grove, Ga., Shirley Jordan of Lake City, Ga., and Linda Ferguson (Bill) of Milton, Fl. and sister-In-law Frances Chesser of McDonough, Ga. and many nieces and nephews.
