Mr. Joe T. Lane, Sr., age 77, a long time resident of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully in his sleep, December 8, 2012. Mr. Lane was a Chairman of the Clayton County Water Authority, and very active in his church. He was the youngest elected Clayton County official and served two terms as Ordinary. Mr. Lane also owned his own real estate office. He was preceded in death by his son; Joseph T. Lane, Jr. He is survived by his wife; Sharon, children; Yvonne (George) Pfeiffer of Elberta, AL, Suzanne Lane of Powder Springs, Tara (Bill) Van Epps of Nicholasville, KY, brother; Chester (Sally) Lane of Fayetteville, grandchildren; Chris Vail, Morgan Thaxton and one great great grandchild, Tinsley Vail. Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Jonesboro First Baptist Church Worship Center. Rev. Gilbert Fields will officiate. Interment will be private at Jonesboro City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 10, 2012 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
