Mr. John W. Chappell, age 75 of Rex passed in his sleep after battling Cancer and C.O.P.D. on November 20, 2023. He was a proud veteran of the army, and an amazing Clayton County Power Trans teacher. He was born on April 27, 1948, in Jacksonville, Florida, then his family later moved to Jackson, South Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents; Homer Nathan Chappell and Ethel Barnes Chappell. He is survived by his wife; Valerie Chappell of Rex, Ga, son; Brian Chappell of Rex, Ga, sister; Chris Mozley of South Carolina, nieces; Laurie Sambenedetto, Sharon Standridge; great nephews; Giovanni Sambenedetto, Gavino Sambenedetto; great niece; Elizabeth Standridge. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 3 P.M. in the chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm prior to the service.
