Mr. Joseph W. Henley, Sr., age 97, of McDonough, passed away on August 31, 2026. He was born on April 20, 1929, in Asheboro, NC to the late William Clyde and Lillie Faye Poole Henley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Atkinson Henley and his wife, Ruby Spencer Henley. He was also preceded in death by his son: Edward Henley and his siblings: Julia Henley Saunders, Cletus Henley Wilson and Donald Henley. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Martha Henley and David Farrell of McDonough, Joseph Henley, Jr. of Newnan, grandchildren: Michael Henley, Christopher (Shavonna) Henley, Emma Farrell and several great grandchildren. Joe served in the Army Air Corps and Air Force during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Air Medal, a Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars, a National Defense Service Medal. He retired from Delta Air Lines.
After retirement, he became the owner of Flippen True Value Hardware in McDonough.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 3, 2026 in the Chapel of Ford Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 3, 2026 from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro, GA.
