Kathleen Marilyn McMillen (nee Jacobsen) age 84 of Jonesboro passed away November 18, 2017. Kathleen was born on April 10, 1933 on a farm just outside of Thornton, Iowa. She graduated from Thornton High School and soon after married James A. McMillen. This began a lifelong period of travel as an Army wife. She was an active member of the Officer's Wives Club and other organizations which supported her husband's career. After his retirement to Jonesboro, she became a founding member of the North Shore Bridge group. These cherished friends became like her family and brought her much joy through their time playing bridge and their many travels and activities. Her largest legacy to her family will be her love of the holidays especially Christmas. She was known for her decorating and amazing meals for each holiday. Her love of Christmas music has been passed down to numerous generations. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Stan Ford, Grantsville, Utah; sister, Janice Barz, Thornton, Iowa; nephews: Dan Barz (Mona) Center Pointe, Iowa, and Randy Barz (Weny), clear Lake, Iowa; four beloved grandchildren: Michael (Alison) Ford, Ashley Ford Manross, Kevin (Jenna) Ford and Niki (Wagner) Artavia; eight great-grandchildren and a great-grandson due March, 2018. Kathless was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, James McMillen; brother-in-law, Glenn Barz, Thornton, Iowa; 3 great-grandsons: Jacobsen Manross, Hodges Manross and Brandon Artavia. A visitation will be held from 1-3 PM, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Ford-Stewart Funeral Home. A committal service will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery in Thornton, Iowa at a later date.
