Obituary

Kelvin Macdonald, 84, of Jonesboro, Georgia, peacefully passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025.

Born on April 8, 1940, in Massachusetts, Kelvin was the son of the late Mary Rose and James Milton Macdonald. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Paul Macdonald and Claire Erlandson.

Kelvin devoted much of his life to air traffic control, a career he enjoyed until his retirement. He also proudly served as a pilot in the United States Marine Corps, including a combat tour in Vietnam. A dedicated member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, Kelvin actively volunteered with the Knights of Columbus, Georgia Right to Life, and St. Vincent DePaul. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and cycling.

Kelvin is survived by his loving wife, Ellen Macdonald; his children, Steven (Montine) Macdonald of Jackson, Leslie (Thomas) Humber of Jackson, and Susan (Cameron) Barham of Marietta; his grandchildren, Natalie Kwart, Larisa Glaze, Devon Bullard, Kimberly Barham, Ian Humber, Dana Szczygiel, and Benjamin Humber; and his great-grandchildren, Caleb Kwart, Ayden Kwart, Raquel Kwart, Scarlett Bullard, Adeline Bullard, Alexandria Glaze, Christian Glaze, Eleanor Szczygiel, and Alice Szczygiel. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A service will be held on Friday, March 7, at 11:00 AM at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, 591 Flint River Rd, Jonesboro, GA 30238, followed by burial at Honey Creek Woodlands Cemetery, where Kelvin will be laid to rest.
