Mr. Lee Davenport, age 63 of Jonesboro passed away January 7, 2023 surrounded by his family. Mr. Davenport was an Automotive Teacher for 22 years with Clayton County School System, beginning his career with Riverdale High School and then the Perry Career Academy. He was also an Honorary Coach with the Locust Grove Bats. Mr. Davenport was preceded in death by his father: Arthur Lee "Buddy" Davenport, Sr.,  grandparents: Melvin Hubert Davenport and Grace Kimble Davenport and Kernel Lee and Rachel Knighten Prestage, and nephew: Stephen Whitmire. He is survived by his wife of 41 years: Sherry Davenport, children: Michael "Mike" Lee (Danielle) Davenport of Newnan, April Michelle Davenport of Hampton and Thomas Phillip (Kayla) Davenport of Jackson, mother: Nancy Davenport of Griffin, brother: Hubert  (Donna) Davenport of Carrollton, sister: Judy (Aaron) Whitmire of Griffin, grandchildren: Jared Davenport, Maverick Davenport, Alston Davenport-Mosley and Amelia Davenport, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, extended family members and the Locust Grove Bats family. Funeral Services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the Chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home with Mr. Nate Hardin and Mr. Charlie Canady officiating. The family will receive friends 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2023, prior to the service.
