Mrs. Margaret Joyner Propes, age 91, of Jonesboro, GA, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2015. She was born in Wayne County, GA, on June 16, 1924 to Archie Joyner and Veronica Scott Joyner. She was a graduate of Georgia State Women's College now known as Valdosta State University, where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Education. After graduation she moved to Nicholls, GA, where she taught school. She met and married her husband, Hoke S. Propes, Jr. They moved to Jonesboro in 1959 where she continued her teaching career and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Teaching Sorority until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of Jonesboro First United Methodist Church and the Upper Room Sunday School Class. She is survived by her daughter, Veronica Rupert; son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Pam Propes; sister and brother-in-law, Clara Ann and Thomas Duncan; sister-in-law, Leetie Jones; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Eather Propes, Rev. Thomas and Laquita Propes; grandchildren, Scott (Bethany) Rupert, Jill (Dave) Yanik, Whitney (Terrance) Kane, Samuel (Amanda) Propes; great grandchildren, Maggie Rupert, Will Rupert, Isabell Anthros, Bryce Yanik, Luke Kane, Leighton Propes and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Jonesboro First United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Screven City Cemetery on Monday, August 17, 2015. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, August 14, 2015 from 6-8 PM.
