Mrs. Marilyn Veree Robinson, age 71, of Stockbridge, passed away August 15, 2014. She was born on April 6, 1943 in Saline, MI to Lawrence J. Pajot and Dorothy May (Peckens) Pajot. Marilyn grew up in Fowlerville, Manchester and Chelsea, MI. She graduated from Chelsea High School in 1961. After high school she attended Albion College in Albion, MI where she received a BA in History and French receiving a Phi Beta Kappa distinction in her senior year. She received her Masters of History at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Later, earning her Masters in Education Degree from Auburn University, AL. Her PhD in Education from Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA came in 1992. Marilyn applied her considerable intellect and talents towards bettering the world by being the best teacher she knew how to be. She received many accolades amongst which was being declared Teacher of the Year at Columbia High School in DeKalb County, GA. Marilyn was an administrator in Macon County Board of Education, Tuskegee, AL; from there she taught in Muscogee County, Columbus, GA eventually transferring to Columbia High School, Decatur, GA teaching social studies, she rose to become the Assistant Principal at Columbia HS. Later she transferred to McNair Middle School as an Assistant Principal. After retiring in 1999 she taught at the Sylvan Learning Center. In addition, to writing many articles for education publications she co-authored a book about the first black school superintendent in the Southeast; MAKING A WAY about Ulysses S Byas in 2011. Marilyn married Paul Robinson in 1977 in Tuskegee, AL. They were happily married for 37 years. They traveled to Sweden, France, England, Italy, Spain, Nova Scotia, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Germany, Australia, Quebec and took various cruises over their years together, fulfilling her early wish to travel. One of her most exciting experiences was driving the bridges from Miami to Key West, FL. Marilyn was a member of Jonesboro United Methodist Church and actively involved in the United Methodist Women, the UMW choir, several Sunday School classes and a Connect Group. She was a certified lay speaker for the United Methodist Church, and a North GA Conference officer in the United Methodist Women. Marilyn, always a generous giver, also crocheted numerous Prayer Shawls as part of her ministry to others. She enjoyed singing from her youth as part of church and school. She was often a soloist for special events. As a singer Marilyn toured with the Albion College Alumni Choir to Europe; they also sang at Carnegie Hall. She sang locally in the Excelsior Choir Community Chorus. Life without singing was unthinkable to her. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dennis L Pajot and step-father, Jack Q. Pfeifle. Marilyn is survived by her spouse Paul of Stockbridge, GA; her sister Jean Pajot Forrester; brothers, Keith Pfeifle and Dan H Pfeifle; and sisters: Susan M (Pfeifle) Brostrand and Elizabeth Pfeifle Carpenter of Taylors, SC; and her many nieces and nephews and other relatives. A memorial service will be held at Jonesboro United Methodist, 142 S Main St, Jonesboro, GA at 2:00 pm on Aug 22, 2014. The family will be greeting friends and relatives just prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family memorial donations may be made to Jonesboro UMW Memorial Fund or the American Cancer Society.
