Marvin Moore, age 73, of Jonesboro, peacefully passed away on May 14, 2024. Born on September 6, 1950, at Crawford Long Hospital, Marvin was the cherished only child of the late Amos and Mamie Moore.

A proud graduate of Russell High School in 1970, Marvin's life took many fulfilling paths. Though initially drafted into the army, his light-hearted spirit and sense of humor prevailed when he was affectionately rejected for not meeting the weight requirement – a story that brought laughter to all who knew him. Following this, Marvin dedicated years of service at Georgia Baptist Hospital Pharmacy before beginning a new chapter in 1999 at Clayton County. There, he contributed his talents to the Building and Maintenance Department and later to Planning and Zoning until his second retirement in 2009.

Marvin found solace and community at Pinecrest Baptist Church in McDonough, where his unwavering faith was a source of strength and comfort. Known for his warm heart and outgoing nature, Marvin never met a stranger, bringing joy to all with his love for games and camping.

In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by all but one cherished aunts and uncles, along with several cousins. He is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Dianne "Snookums" Moore, who was his everything and sole caregiver for the past 10 1/2 years. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Kathleen Langston of Lavonia, GA, and brother-in-law John Yates (Kathleen) of Decatur, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of Marvin's life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 2pm in the chapel of Ford-Stewart Funeral Home, with Lucretia Chilton leading the service. Following the service, a private graveside ceremony will take place at College Park Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home from 12 until 2 on Saturday. In honor of Marvin's casual and approachable demeanor, the family requests attendees to wear business casual attire.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Clayton County Humane Society at 7810 N. McDonough St., Jonesboro, GA 30236, in memory of Marvin's love for animals and compassionate spirit.

Marvin Moore's legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace, his memory cherished in the hearts of all who knew him.
