Obituary

Mary Freeman Lynberg, an inspiration to all, took her spiritual journey home to her favorite husband, Norman T. Lynberg (deceased: 8-17-1997), on July 31, 2014. Never known as the silent type, Mary filled her 92 years of living with love, laughter, and storytelling. She was born on July 16, 1922, in Germany, as Maria Hedwig Friemel, however growing up with her sister, Ann Brown (surviving) and brother Walter (deceased) in Sioux City, Iowa, she would change her name to Mary Freeman. During WWII, Norman changed her name again to Lynberg for their 54 years of marriage and beyond. Never slowing down, Mary's name evolved to Mom to her five surviving children (Susan Estes, Lyndy Broder (Hans), Mike Lynberg (Nancy), Dan Lynberg (Chris), Charlene Brown (Gerald)). Her love would continue to expand, as she gained the name Mimi to her 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren (all surviving, except one - Evan Estes). Mary's faith was strong and most at home at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Jonesboro, GA. The service to celebrate her life will be held at this church on August 2nd, 2014 at 10am with interment at 1:30pm at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Keeping in the giving nature of Mary's love, the family is asking for donations be made to: St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, St. Philip's AIDS ministry or St. Philip's St. Vincent de Paul. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
