Maurine Austin Dudley, age 89, of Fayetteville went home to be with the Lord Saturday, August 31, 2013. She was preceded in death her husband of 52 years W.C. Dudley, her parents, Bob and Maggie Austin; Brother Joe Austin; and son Robert Dudley. She is survived by her daughter Eliska Bradberry and husband Wayne of Jonesboro; granddaughter Kimberly Campbell and husband Jon of Fayetteville; and sister, Loretta Nix of N. Little Rock, AR; as well as several nieces and nephews. Maurine was born on January 24, 1924 to Garland (Bob) and Maggie Austin in Lillie, Louisiana and was raised in Montrose, Arkansas. She received an Associate in Arts degree from Central Baptist College in Conway, Arkansas and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Education from Arkansas State Teachers College. After teaching school for seven years, Maurine attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where she met and then married Rev. W.C. Dudley on August 24, 1951. She taught school in Arkansas and Alabama and later filled in as a substitute in Ohio and Georgia from 1970- 1981. Together W.C. and Maurine served their Lord at the New Orleans Seminary, Baptist Student Union, Southern Baptist Training Union, the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board (currently the North American Mission Board) and Sunday School teachers. W.C. and Maurine opened their hearts and home to countless missionaries and people in their local community. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Ford Stewart Funeral Home, Jonesboro, GA. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00AM at First Baptist Church of Forest Park, with Rev. Paul Robins, Dr. Reed Crumbliss and Rev. Irvin Pearre officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
