Mr. Melvin Lee Pearson, Sr., age 70 of Riverdale, passed away March 28, 2021. He was an active member of Valley Hill Baptist Church and was very involved in his children's and grandchildren's activities. Mr. Pearson coached football, baseball, basketball and wrestling at Jonesboro High School and Dutchtown High School from 1970 until present. He was an Honorary Grandfather at Future Leaders Academy and also served in the U. S. Army and Army Reserves. He was preceded in death by his parents: Albert, Jr. and Ellen Pearson, brother: Lewis Pearson and sister: Gail Pearson. He is survived by his wife: Patricia Pearson, children: Pamela (Paul) Gass of Hampton, Kelly (Frank) Thompson of Barnesville, Bobbie (Jimmy) Key of Monticello, Melvin Lee Pearson, Jr. of Riverdale, Mary Pearson of Riverdale and Danielle Pearson of Riverdale, brothers: Albert (Annette) Pearson of Milner, Jimmy Petro of Columbus, IN., and Ricky Pearson of Griffin, sisters: Sherry Pearson of Luthersville and Sandra (Martin) Salmonson of NY, 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 2, 2021 at Camp Memorial Park with Pastor Keith Barksdale officiating.
