Mr. Michael G. Matthews age 37 of Jonesboro, GA passed away June 14, 2016. Mr. Matthews loved his family, friends and animals, he also was a super fan and loved the Georgia Bulldogs. He is preceded in death by his father: Gilford Matthews. He is survived by wife: Christy Matthews; children: Cody Matthews of Flovilla, GA, and Brian Matthew Wharton of Stockbridge, GA; 4 stepchildren: Jordan Allison, Tyler Battle, Brandyn Allison, and Nicholaus Cox; mother and stepfather: Donna & Robert Vitale; sister: Dawn Hardie of Clayton, NC; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Friday, June 17th, 2016 in the Chapel of Ford Stewart Funeral Home with Pastor Wade Hall officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM before the service at the funeral home. The family will also hold a funeral service at 4 PM, Sunday, June 19th, 2016 at Wheeler-Woodlief Funeral Home 1130 N Winstead Ave Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with visitation from 2-4 PM before the service. Burial will follow at Spencer Cockrell Cemetery in Rocky Mount, NC. In lieu of flowers family request contributions to be made to the family.
