Mrs. Mildred "Mitzie" Thomas, age 85, of Jonesboro passed away October 29, 2021.  Mrs. Thomas was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a devoted Army wife and a member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church.  She was preceded in death by her daughter: Laura daCosta; siblings Ann Kovalik, Mike Brendza, Joe Brendza, Jim Brendza, Ed Brendza, George Brendza, Frank Brendza, John Brendza.  She is survived by her loving husband: LTC(R) Robert J. Thomas; children: Vernon Thomas (Jennifer) of Stockbridge, Lisa Thomas (Bill Hudgins) of Stockbridge, Trisha Clark (Chris) of Stockbridge, and Ilton daCosta of McDonough; grandchildren: Allison Smith (Bobby), Meagan Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Robert Abel, Michael Thomas, Maria Golden (Luke), Alex Hayes, Morganne Thomas, Billy Lord, Austin Clark, McKenzy Hudgins, Taylor Meares, Ashly Patterson, 4 great grandchildren: Autumn Abel, Joseph Combs, Elizabeth Smith, and Kimi Abel; and many nieces, nephews and extending family. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Tuesday, November 2nd, 2021 at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021 at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church.  A graveside service will be at 2 PM, Monday, November 29th, 2021 at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
