Obituary

Nancy Simmons Fisher, born January 20, 1953, passed away January 4, 2014 at her home in Hampton. She was a graduate of Forest Park Senior High, class of 1971. Nancy Simmons Fisher was affectionately called Fancy Nancy by those who knew and loved her well. She fancied all things beautiful and devoted her life to spreading joy to all she met. She loved passionately. She loved her husband, family, friends, animals, her yard, the Beatles, and laughter. Nancy had the ability to light up a room with her mere presence; she was the life of every party, making every occasion a reason to celebrate. Nancy was an eternal optimist, an artist, an entertainer, a gardener, an animal advocate, a comedian and jokester. Fancy Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and a beloved child of God. She is survived by her husband, Bill Fisher, children, David (Kristina) Fisher and Geri Ann (Greg) Pearson, mother, Agnes Harbin Martin, siblings, Beverly Martin, Matt (Donna) Simmons, Marty (Glad) Simmons, John Simmons, Marlene (Danny) Flynn, and Howard (Patricia) Fisher, 6 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, beloved pets and scores of friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2014, 2 p.m. at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church with Dr. Richard Long officiating. She will lie in state 1 hour before service. Interment Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday, January 6, 2013, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
