Phillip Bingham, 94, of Locust Grove, GA, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025.
Born on May 21, 1930, in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Phillip was the beloved son of the late Ada Elizabeth and James Edward Bingham. He was preceded in death by his siblings: William, Roger, Robert, and James Bingham, Elizabeth Shepley, and Jane McHenry.
Phillip proudly served in the United States Navy before dedicating his career to civil engineering with the City of East Point. He was a graduate of the University of Florida and a devoted member of Salem Baptist Church.
A lifelong Florida Gators football fan, Phillip rarely missed a game day. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis well into his 80s, and could often be found watching his favorite shows—The Andy Griffith Show and Walker, Texas Ranger.
Above all, Phillip will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather whose greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cindy May and Bruce Simpson; grandchildren, Christopher Gordon (Kimberly) Simpson and Devin Robert (Araceli) Simpson; and one cherished great-granddaughter, Amelia Brielle Simpson. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5755 Mallory Rd, Atlanta, GA 30349, where Phillip will be laid to rest.
