Dr. Raymond L. Hancock, age 87, went to be with the Lord while at home in Hampton, GA, on February 3, 2015. Dr. Hancock is survived by two brothers; 4 children, Linda James of Pensacola, FL, Donna Via of Williamsburg, VA, Daniel Hancock of Hampton GA, Earnest Dale Hancock of Wilmington, NC; 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Mary Annell Hancock, his wife of 66 ½ years. Dr. Hancock was born on September 8, 1927 in Tampa, FL to Leo and Ruby Hancock. Dr. Hancock graduated from Tennessee Temple University with a degree in Theology in 1957. His 39 years of pastoral ministry began at Providence Baptist Church in Brandon, FL. It grew to be the largest rural church in the State of Florida. Under his direction Providence Christian School and College was established. In 1976 he was called to Pinecrest Baptist Church where he pastored for 20 years before going into Evangelism. In the mid 1990's he founded the Independent Baptist Fellowship of Georgia. He has traveled the country speaking and teaching in Christian colleges and churches around the nation and has written many books. His favorite pastime was golf and enjoyed shooting his age more than once. His hobby was making and repairing golf clubs for friends and family with a PGA certification. A funeral is scheduled for February 10, 2015 at 1 PM at Harvest Baptist Tabernacle, 1974 Walt Stephens Rd, Jonesboro, GA 30236. The family will receive friends on February 9, 2015 from 5-8 PM at Harvest Baptist Tabernacle. Entombment will be at Eastlawn Cemetery in McDonough, GA.
