Mr. Robert Nathaniel Gilbert, age 94, of Stockbridge passed away November 8, 2014. He was a member of First Baptist Church Jonesboro for 68 years, serving as an usher for 65 years and served as a Deacon for a number of years. He was employed with Georgia Power for 37 years, and was Top Georgia Power Appliance salesman for 10 years winning many awards. He raised black Angus cattle. Mr. Gilbert was also a Veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife; Thena, daughters, Shayne Gilbert Goodrum of Durham, NC., Robin Gilbert Ellison and husband David of Pendleton, SC., and Melissa Gilbert Meadows and husband Eugene of Stockbridge, sister; Joyce Bowen of Forest Park, grandchildren; Andrea Faith Goodrum, Megan Lynn Goodrum and husband, Trevor, Joel Robert Ellison and wife Sheena, Tabitha Elise Meadows, and Rachel Elaine Meadows, great-grandchildren: Cedar Kalia Kayrum, Loic Prudner, Korvin Michael Goodrum and Lyra Josephine Goodrum. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 10, 2014, 2 p.m. at the Chapel of First Baptist Church Jonesboro with Rev. Irvin Pearre officiating. He will be placed in state at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Jonesboro City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 9, 2014, 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home.
