Sammie "Sam" Lee Hunter, age 90, of Jonesboro, passed away on December 14, 2025. He was born on May 31, 1935 in Corinth, Kentucky. He retired from the United States Air Force and the Federal Aviation Administration. He was preceded in death by his parents. Edward and Pauline Hunter. He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Reuben (Lyndsay) Hunter of Australia, Duane Hunter of Jonesboro and Anglea Moody of Jonesboro; siblings, Junior Hunter of KY, Douglas Hunter of KY and Roger Hunter of KY; grandchildren, Liam Hunter, Olivia Hunter, Felicia (Chris) Jackson and Shawn Watkins; great grandchildren, Nevaeh Goggins, Ethan Fowler, Bradley Watkins and Brayden Watkins; and a great great grandchild, Mateo Hernandez. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, December 20, 2025 in the Chapel of Ford Stewart Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 19, 2025 from 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park, GA following the Service.
